USING ADOBE CAPTIVATE 5
Noninteractive Objects and Media
Last updated 4/22/2010
Insert slide video
1 Select Video > Insert Slide Video.
2 In the View import options, select the appropriate choice and then click OK.
A slide video can be imported to multiple slides (a video slide group). Adobe Captivate retains the grouping.
You can insert the same video to another slide or a group of slides in the same project.
Inserting non-Flash video file formats
Adobe Captivate supports insertion of FLV/F4V files directly as slide videos. But to insert non-Flash video formats,
you need Adobe Media Encoder to convert the files to FLV/F4V.
1 Select Video > Insert Slide Video.
2 Select the file and then click OK.
3 At prompt, click Yes.
4 In the Convert using AME, select a location to save the file in FLV format.
The progress indicator informs the status of file conversion.
After the files are converted, you can add them to the project.
Edit video timing
The Edit Video dialog box (Video > Edit Video Timing) lets you edit the video timing:
Edit and preview: Use the edit tab to edit the timing and preview the slide video while editing. You can decide the
part of video that must play in each slide. When you edit the timing, it applies only to that particular slide/slide
video group.
Play the preview, pause at the point where you want to make the adjustment, and then adjust the marker (drag left
or right).
When you move the marker, a mismatch can occur between the video and the slide duration (for the slide with the
reduced video duration). You can synchronize the duration using the timeline in the Edit Video Timing dialog
box.Unused video portions outside the start and end markers can be assigned to adjacent slides (if any in the
project).
Note: You can also preview the slide video from library and on stage. On stage preview helps you decide the sequence
of appearance of various objects as the video plays.
