DESCRIPTION
This Quick Start provides instructions for the installation of the
GPON 452/454 Optical Network Termination (ONT) units (see part
numbers listed below). The ONTs have POTS and GigE interfaces
that provide triple-play services. The GPON 452 ONT has two
POTS ports and two Gigabit-Ethernet ports; the GPON 454 ONT
has four POTS ports and four Gigabit-Ethernet ports.
The ONT is to be enclosed in a weather-hardened Network Inter-
face Device (NID) which mounts to the exterior of a building. The
figure below illustrates the ONT in the context of the NID with the
access door of the NID removed.
g NOTE
NID Enclosure is shown for reference only.
The ONT is a Class 1 Laser Product.

TELEPHONE TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Identify the bad line.
2. Disconnect the plug from the appropriate POTS jack and plug
any working telephone into that jack.
If the telephone works, there is a problem inside the house.
If the telephone does not work, contact your service provider.
3. Remove the telephone and replace the plug into the POTS jack.
4. Close the unit.
This device is intended to be attached to a receiver that is not used to
receive over-the-air broadcast signals. Connection of this device in any
other fashion may cause harmful interference to radio communications
ans is in violation of the FCC Rules, part 15.

PRODUCT
INSTALLATION
This section explains how to install the NID, ground the NID, route
and attach the incoming Fiber, and install the ONT in the NID.
There is also a section on connecting POTS and Ethernet services.
After unpacking the ONT, inspect it for damage. If damage is noted,
file a claim with the carrier and then contact ADTRAN. For more
information, refer to the warranty.
f WARNING!
Read all warnings and cautions before installing or servicing this
equipment.
Refer to the national, state and local electrical codes for the
requirements for power and grounding wiring methods.
The protective earth (PE) grounding wire for this product mu

Why is the NETWORK STATUS LED red on my ADTRAN Network Hardware?
    • K
      Kaitlyn EatonAug 1, 2025
If the NETWORK STATUS LED on your ADTRAN Network Hardware is red, there may be a software configuration issue between the OLT and the SFU ONT. Contact the Central Office to resolve this.

What to do if ADTRAN GPON 452 Network Hardware LEDs are normal but problems still exist?
    • N
      navarrocraigAug 10, 2025
If the LEDs on your ADTRAN Network Hardware are normal but you're still experiencing issues, here are a few things you can check: * First, see if other ONTs installed in the PON are working correctly. If other ONTs are working, the problem is likely with your current ONT. If none are working, the issue might be with the PON or OLT. * If the problem seems random, inspect the common mounting platform for loose or broken connections. Also, ensure all optical connections are clean and tight. * If the problem is consistent, disconnect the Customer Provided Equipment (CPE) wiring and perform Ethernet tests. Verify the OLT can run and pass the loop-back tests for the Ethernet port.

    • J
      Jessica SmithAug 15, 2025
If the LEDs on the front of your ADTRAN Network Hardware SFU ONT are cycling continuously, try the following steps: 1. Try a different SFU ONT. 2. Make sure the power supply is functioning correctly.
