WARNING DANGER
Do not use the steel blade for edging or
scalping (rough mowing down to the
ground).
TRIMMING:
It is moving the trimmer carefully towards the
material that you wish to mow. Tilt the line
head a little to the side in order to keep the
debris moving away from you. If you are
mowing close to barriers such as fences, walls
or trees, get near them at an angle so that
any debris ricocheting will fly away from you.
Move the line head around slowly until the
grass next to the barrier is mowed, but do not
press (push) the line into the barrier. If you
are trimming near a wire fence or chain link
fence, be careful not to get too close to the
wire. If you get too close, the line will break
around the wire. Trimming can be used for
cutting weed stalks, one by one. Position the
cutting line head close to the bottom of the
weed stalk; never go high, because it may
cause the weed to vibrate and catch the line.
It is better not to cut weeds straight through
the plant; rather, use the very end of the line
to cut the plant slowly.
SCALPING AND EDGING:
Both these operations are done with the line
head tilted at a steep angle. Scalping - is
removing upper growth, leaving the ground
bare.
Edging is trimming the grass which has spread
across the paths, roads etc. by cutting it back.
While scalping and edging, hold the device at a steep angle and in such position
that no debris or thrown dirt and stones can hit you even if they ricochet off a hard
surface. Although the pictures show how to scalp and edge, each operator must
