7.4. CTCSS / DCS
CTCSS and DCS are procedures for adding an inaudible sub-tone or code to the radio message.
In addition, the device only reacts to incoming radio messages with the corresponding coding.
This means that only users on the same channel with the same CTCSS / DCS conguration
can talk to each other; other radio messages or users on the channel are muted.
CTCCS / DCS is a procedure for a specic addressing of users. Please note that your radio
transmissions may still interfere with or be interfered by other transmissions on the same
channel. We therefore recommend activating the busy channel lockout (see 7.1.2 on page
25).
CTCSS / DCS is not a safeguard or encryption against eavesdropping by others. All radio
transmissions can be clearly received by any other radio device on the same channel.
