Folded ring application

The figure below shows an STM-1 or STM-4 Folded Ring application.
Compared to the linear application in “LAN-to-LAN linear unprotected application”
(p. 3-2), the folded-ring provides extra reliability by protecting the NE chain by
building a ring. Within the chain NEs can flexibly be added or removed while the
protection within the ring remains untouched. However, note that1+1MSPprotection
is only available for STM-1 transmission.
