6.4 Alarm contacts
Two sets of alarm contacts are provided. One reflects the state of the power supply. The
other reflects the state of the optical PRP ports.
A closed contact means an alarm or a fault.
The connectors are similar to those used for the power supply, and the same instructions
regarding securing the covers apply.
6.5 Ethernet Connection
The Ethernet-based communication of this product uses optical fibre media for the parallel
redundancy (PRP) ports with LC connectors. It uses twisted pair cables for the Base-Tx
connections.
If Base-Tx equipment is located at a long distance (>100 m) from the product, or if the cables
run through an electrically noisy environment, then electrical to fibre-optic converters should
be employed with opical fibres to make the link.
6.5.1 Ethernet cable type
Only insulated cable to category 5 (FTP: Foil Twisted Pair) or insulated (STP – Shielded
Twisted Pair) with RJ45 connectors should be used.
6.5.2 Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) fibre-optic Ethernet port
The Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) fibre-optic Ethernet port uses LC connectors as
shown in the figure below.
