DSI Flame Sensor and Spark Ignitor Location
S-315 CHECKING HOT SURFACE IGNITER
"Smart Valve" systems use a silicone carbide restrictive ele-
ment ignitor is used for ignition. The normal operating tem-
perature is approximately 2550°F. "DSI" systems use a spark
type igniter.

INSTALLING THIS UNIT.

BE PRESENT.
FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE PROPERTY
DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
1. Ignitor cool - approximately 70 - 75°F.
2. Disconnect the ignitor from the Ignition Control Module
and line voltage terminal board.
3. Using an ohmmeter measure the resistance of the ignitor
it should read between 16 to 24 ohms for Norton mini
ignitors. DSI system do not use hot surface ignitors.
4. Reconnect igniter.
With Power ON:
WARNING
V
OLTAGE NOW PRESENT.
5. Place unit in heating cycle, measure current draw of igni-
tor during preheat cycle. Should read approximately 1 to
1.5 amps.
