8.1 Leakage test
8.1-1 Insuffl ate approx. 1 litre with a bag resuscitator.
Hold the bag compressed and make sure that there is
a tight mask seal. The air pressure should stay at the
same level (indicated on the instrument) for at least 5
secs. It is acceptable that the pressure drops very slowly.
In this test, the air may not go in the stomach - if it does
so, you have to change the stomach valve.
8.1-2 If the indicator drops fast, check all connections
from the head to the stomach valve (eg. the necktube,
see 3.1-14).
Also check that the four nuts holding the head mount-
ing have been suffi ciently tightened (see 4.1) or that the
silicone rubber bushing with the elastic net inside the
head is tight.
If all this is tight it is probably necessary to change the
stomach valve.
