Usage Features:
- Quick Start Guide: The unit ships with internal batteries disconnected. Users must connect the battery connector(s) behind the front panel before initial use.
- On/Off Button: A dual-function button to turn the UPS output on (press for >2 seconds when off and AC power is present) or cold-start the UPS on battery power (press for >2 seconds when off and battery connected, no AC). Pressing for >2 seconds when on turns off the UPS output.
- Test/Silence Button: Initiates a self-test of the battery and inverter when AC power is present. Also silences audible alarms during AC power failure.
- Display Functionality: Front panel LEDs indicate system status:
- Load Monitor: Six-segment LED display showing current load percentage (each LED ~20% load, 6th red LED for overload).
- Battery Charge Monitor: Five-segment LED display showing internal battery charge capacity (each LED ~20% charge).
- Site Wiring Fault Indicator ("SF"): (120 VAC models only) Illuminates if connected to an improperly wired AC receptacle (missing safety ground or phase/neutral reversal). Requires immediate attention from a qualified electrician.
- UPS LED Display: Includes indicators for UPS output on, battery charge status, battery operation due to improper AC, battery fault/disconnected, load status, overload, buck operation (high incoming AC), boost operation (low incoming AC), fault, and over temperature.
- Rack Mount Installation: Detailed instructions for assembling side rails, attaching to the rack, and securing the UPS and optional external battery cabinets. Two-person lift is recommended due to weight. All supplied mounting hardware must be used.
- DIP Switches: Allows configuration of audible alarms (e.g., enable/disable on battery audible alarm).
- Laser Printers: SurgeX recommends NOT plugging laser printers into the UPS due to their high current draw during fuser/heater assembly, which can overload the UPS or interfere with Voltage Manager circuit operation.
Maintenance Features:
- Battery Replacement: The UPS uses sealed lead-acid, maintenance-free batteries. Replacement should be performed by qualified service personnel. The battery assembly is user-serviceable in non-medical units by removing the front panel.
- Hot-Swappable Batteries: Batteries can be replaced while the UPS is on and providing power, but a power outage during replacement will result in power loss to connected systems.
- Battery Life: Designed to last 2-5 years, depending on power outage frequency, duration, and ambient temperature.
- Low/Replace Battery LED: Illuminates when battery voltage is low or battery is dead, indicating a need for charging or replacement.
- Battery Replacement Kits: Specific part numbers for replacement battery kits are provided (58870-01 for 1440 VA, 58870-02 for 2200/3300 VA). Contact SurgeX for correct kits.
- Safety Precautions for Battery Replacement: Emphasizes removing conductive jewelry, using insulated tools, wearing rubber gloves/boots, not laying tools on batteries, disconnecting charging source, and checking for inadvertent grounding.
- Storage: For extended storage, batteries should be recharged every six months (or every two months in high-temperature environments). The UPS does not need to be turned on for charging.
- Automatic Battery Test: If continuously on, the UPS performs an auto battery test every six days. Can be configured to self-test periodically using MopUPS Pro software.
- Troubleshooting Guide: Provides a table of common problems, possible causes, and recommended actions for issues like UPS not powering up, overload, low/replace battery LED illumination, site wiring fault, and reduced backup time.
- Output Fuse Rating Chart: Specifies fuse type and rating for specific models (e.g., 250 VAC 12.5 A slow-blow for UPS-1440-Li-ISO). Fuse replacement must be done by qualified service personnel using IEC 60127-2 rated fuses.
- Warranty: SurgeX warrants electronics and transformers for five years from shipment date, and batteries for two years. A 90-day battery warranty applies if the UPS is regularly and intentionally disconnected from AC mains power.
