Do you have a question about the Anerma Electronics Volt1000 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the Anema Modular Power Meter, a device designed for measuring power distribution and related electrical parameters. It is available in several configurations, including the Volt1000, RoCo2000AN, Cube1000AN, and Spark5A, which can be combined to form a comprehensive power monitoring system.

Function Description

The Modular Power Meter system is designed to measure and monitor various electrical parameters in power distribution systems. It can measure voltage, current, power (real, reactive, apparent), power factor, frequency, and total harmonic distortion (THD). The system is modular, allowing different sensor types to be connected in a chain to measure up to 15 x 4 = 60 power lines. The Volt1000 module measures voltage, while the RoCo2000AN and Cube1000AN modules measure current. The Spark5A module is a 5A current sensor with partial discharge measurement capabilities.

The system communicates via MODBUS RTU, allowing for integration into existing control systems. The Volt1000 acts as the bridge between the MODBUS master and the cascade bus, and it also provides a display for local readings. The modules can be connected in a chain, with the first module being the configured MODBUS address.

Usage Features

  • Modular Design: The system is highly modular, allowing users to combine different sensor types (Volt1000, RoCo2000AN, Cube1000AN, Spark5A) to create a customized power monitoring solution.
  • Cascading: Multiple modules can be connected in a chain, with the Volt1000 acting as the master, enabling the monitoring of numerous power lines (up to 60).
  • MODBUS RTU Communication: The system uses MODBUS RTU for communication, facilitating easy integration with existing industrial control systems.
  • Touch Interface (Volt1000): The Volt1000 features a touch screen display for local readings and configuration. It allows users to view various screens, including total power, current, voltage, frequency, and power per phase. The display can be altered and saved.
  • Auto-ranging: The current sensors (RoCo2000AN, Cube1000AN, Spark5A) offer auto-ranging capabilities for flexible current measurement.
  • DIN-rail mounting: The modules are designed for DIN-rail mounting, ensuring easy installation in control panels.
  • Measurement of Partial Discharge (Spark5A): The Spark5A module provides ultrasonic microphone pickups for detecting partial discharge, which is crucial for predictive maintenance and ensuring the longevity of electrical equipment.
  • Energy Counters: The system includes energy counters (in Joules and kWh/kvarh) for monitoring consumed and injected real and reactive energy. These counters are available in 64-bit binary format with a resolution/step of one Joule, as well as in 32-bit floating point format in kWh.

Maintenance Features

  • Software Upgrade: The firmware of the Volt1000 and other connected modules can be upgraded using a USB-RS485 cable and a PC program (ModbusLink). This allows for easy updates and improvements to the system's functionality.
  • ModbusLink Program: A dedicated PC program, ModbusLink, is available for controlling the sensors. It offers functionalities such as reading selected registers, initiating multiple read operations, upgrading sensor firmware, and configuring sensors.
  • Limited Warranty: Anema products are guaranteed to be free of defects in workmanship or materials. Defective products will be replaced or repaired at the discretion of Anema. The warranty does not cover products repaired, altered, or modified by others, or damage resulting from improper installation, operation, or maintenance.
  • Error Handling: The system provides warnings and cautions regarding potential hazards and proper usage to prevent damage and ensure safety.
  • Configuration Saving: Settings can be saved to permanent memory, ensuring that configurations are retained even after power cycles. Default settings can also be restored.
  • Reset Energy Counters: The energy counters can be reset via MODBUS commands, which is useful for starting new measurement periods.
  • Baudrate and Address Setting: The MODBUS baudrate and address can be set using a specific MODBUS command, allowing for flexible network configuration. The Volt1000 is unique in that it can be set to address 0 (zero) as a special serial number, which is always accepted.
