The control panel (3) incorporates the major controls and indicators required to
control the FT74. It is a flat membrane panel designed to be easy to clean. Full details
on the use of the controls are provided in the OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES
section of this manual, which must be consulted before operating the equipment.
The control panel is activated whenever power is applied to the unit, however power
is only applied to the hot water circulator and the feed pump when requested from the
control panel. The Mains On/Off buttons (25) enable the power to be applied to the
hot water circulator and the feed pump. Individual on/off buttons (26, 27) are then
provided for each of these functions.
When the feed pump has been switched on its speed is controlled by up/down button
switches (28). The display (29) indicates the requested feed pump speed as a
percentage of full scale.
Also located on the control panel are digital indicators for the system temperatures,
the feed pressure and the current drawn by the feed pump motor. The displays are
positioned on a process flow diagram, thus making their function apparent. Indicators
(30) are included to show when the hot water circulator has low water levels, or is at
high pressure.
The control panel includes a three term controller (31) to control the process
temperature at the end of the holding tube. Control is effected by modulating the
power supplied to the heater incorporated within the hot water circulator.
