5.0 INSTRUMENT CAL A AND CALIBRATION
5.1 Instrument CAL A
IMPORTANT Never remove the caps of the Calibration Standards.
The CAL A from the Reagent Kit is used to zero the Instrument.
Since a small amount of drift will occur due to temperature variations, it is
important to compensate for this effect by using the CAL A.
The Instrument will prompt the user when a CAL A is required, which
includes:
a. Prior to the first pipette calibration after powering on the
instrument.
b. If more than 8 hours have elapsed since the last CAL A.
c. If a change in temperature of ±2 °C has occurred since the
last CAL A.
5.2 Instrument Calibration
At a minimum, the Instrument calibration should be checked every thirty
days or prior to the next use, whichever is later. The Instrument calibration
is checked using the Instrument Calibrator Kit. The Kit contains four vials
(CAL A, B, C and D) with calibrator values, lot code, and expiration date,
which are located on the label on the inside of the box lid. The calibrator
values communicate reference information about the concentrations
derived from a factory reference instrument. Calibration measurements of
this factory reference instrument are traceable to the International System
of Units (SI) through reference standards developed and maintained by
the National Institute of Standards and Technology, USA (NIST).
The contents of the Instrument Calibrator Kit are subject to degradation
with time, temperature and exposure to light. The kit contents should be
stored in darkness (closed box) at room temperature (18 °C to 28 °C)
between uses to ensure the shelf life.
Prior to use, equilibrate the vials in the Vial Block for at least 15 minutes.
5.2.1 To access the Instrument Calibration Menu, respond to the
Instrument's prompts as follows:
