Answering system
Answering system settings
Answer on/o
Unless you change it, the answering system is on and ready to record
messages. If the answering system is on, the ANS ON icon displays on the
handset screen and the /ANS ON/OFF light on the telephone base is
on. You can turn the answering system o, but if you do so, the answering
system does not answer calls and record incoming messages.
Using the handset:
Press MENU/SELECT in idle mode to enter the
main menu.
Press CID or DIR to scroll to Answering sys, then
press MENU/SELECT.
Press CID or DIR to scroll to Answer on/o, then
press MENU/SELECT.
Press CID or DIR to select between On and O, then
press MENU/SELECT to save the setting.
Using the telephone base:
Press /ANS ON/OFF to turn the answering
system on or o. If the answering system is
turned on, it announces, “Calls will be answered.
If the answering system is turned o, it
announces, “Calls will not be answered.
NOTES:
If the answering system is o and there is an incoming call, the system answers aer 10 rings
and announces to the caller, “Please enter your remote access code.” For more information
about remote access, see Remote access code on page 54.
You can turn the answering system on or o from either the handset or the telephone base,
but you can only use the handset to change the other answering system settings.
You cannot turn the answering system on or o while a handset is on a call or the telephone
base is playing messages.
