Overview

The ATS Model PAVD4, or Personal Assistance Voice Dialer 4, is an emergency communication device designed to provide assistance and peace of mind through its various features. It functions as a speakerphone with emergency dialing capabilities, daily alarms, and social safety "I'm OK" features.

Function Description:

The PAVD4 is primarily an emergency communication system. When activated, it triggers an alarm for 15 seconds within the house, followed by sequential dialing of pre-programmed emergency numbers from its phonebook (up to 30 numbers). During an emergency call, it plays a pre-recorded or user-recorded emergency message. If the receiving party answers and presses '0', a 2-minute speakerphone conversation is initiated. The conversation can be extended for another 2 minutes by pressing '15' before the initial 2 minutes end. If the receiving party does not answer within 1 minute, the system proceeds to call the next emergency contact. The call dialing sequence can be canceled by pressing the Pendant or SOS button.

The device also includes a "911 Direct Feature" which allows the user to press and hold the panic button for 5 seconds to directly dial the number stored in the 911 key (normally 911), bypassing the regular emergency contact list. The system will not call other stored emergency numbers in this mode. Additionally, a "Remote 911 Feature" allows a receiver of an emergency call to press 911 on their telephone keypad, causing the system to hang up the active call and dial 911 (or the specified emergency number stored in the 911 key).

Beyond emergencies, the PAVD4 offers two programmable Daily Alarms. If a daily alarm is missed (meaning the user does not press the panic button on the pendant or the SOS button on the telephone base), the system will begin to call the emergency contacts and play a custom Daily Alarm message, informing the receiver that the user was unable to acknowledge the alarm. This ensures a daily check-in for the user's well-being.

The device supports Talking Caller ID, which speaks the number and stored recorded name of incoming calls, provided Caller ID service is active on the phone line. It also speaks the Caller ID number when scrolling through the Caller ID list.
