There is an adaptive damper malfunction .
Drive to an aut horized Audi dea ler or authori zed
Audi Service Facility immediately to have the
malfunct ion corrected.
¢¢ Turn signals
If the II or i!I indicator light blinks, the turn
signals are activated. If both indicator lights are
blinking, the emergency flashers are act ivated.
If an indicato r light blinks twice as fast as usua l,
a t urn signa l bulb has failed . Carefully drive to an
author ized Audi dealer or author ized Audi Service
Facility immediately to have the malfunction cor-
rected.
¢1.~ Trailer turn signal assembly
The indicat or light II blinks when t he turn sig-
nal is used , if a tr ailer has been properly connect -
ed to the vehicle.
If one of the turn signal bulbs on the trailer is
burned out or defect ive, the indicator light will
not blink when you use the t urn signals.

For vehicles with a t railer hitch that was in-
stalle d later accord ing to factory spec ifica-
tions, t he tr ailer tur n signal assembly is actu -
at ed.

Instruments and indicator lights
On Board Diagnostic
System (OBD)
Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) Ill in t he
inst rument cluste r is pa rt of the On Board Diag-
nostic System (OBD II).
The warning/i ndicator light tu rns on when t he ig-
nition is switche d on and tu rns off once the en-
gine is starte d and is running in idle at a stab le
speed. This indicates t hat the MIL is functioning
correctly.
If the light does not turn off after starting the
engine or t urns on while driving, this may indi-
cate there is a malfunction in the eng ine. If the
indicator tu rns on, the catalytic converter may be
damaged .
Drive
with reduced engine performance (avoid
high speeds for extended periods of t ime and/o r
fast acceleration) and have the malfu nction cor-
rected . See an author ized Audi dealer or author -
ized Audi Service Facility.
The indicator may turn on if the electronic speed
limiter is faulty . For addit ional information, see

The MIL may also turn on if the fuel filler cap is
not closed correctly ¢ page 157.
