Improperly positioned safety belts can
cause se rious personal injury in an acci-
dent.
- The shoulder belt po rtion of the safety
belt must be pos it ioned over the m iddle
of the occupant 's shoulder and neve r
across the neck or throat.
- The safety belt must lie flat and snug on
the occupant's upper body

- The lap belt port ion of the safety be lt
must be positioned as low as possible

The best way to protect the fetus is to make
sure that expectant mothers always wear
safety belts correctly - throughout the preg-
nancy .
