For vehicles with a factory installed towing
hitch or a trailer hitch that was installed
later according to factory specifications,
the trailer turn signal assembly is actuat-
ed.
l Safety belts
This warning/indica tor light reminds you to
put on your safety belt.
The . warn ing/indicator light illum inates
when the ignition is switched on to rem ind
the driver and (on USA models only) any front
passenger to put on the safety belt. Addition -
ally, an audible warning tone will also sound.

0 Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
The Malfunction Ind icator Lamp (MIL) is part
of the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD II) system.
The symbol flllli$ tights up when the ignition is
turned o n and will turn off after the engine
has started and has settled at a cons ta nt idle
speed. This indicates that the MIL is working
properly.
The warning light illuminates when there is a
mal fu nct ion in the engine e lectronic system.
Contact your authorized Audi dealer and have
the ma lfunction corrected.
An improperly closed fuel filler cap may also
cause the MIL light to illuminate

~D High beam
The . wa rning/ind icato r light illum inates
when the high beams are on or when you use
the head light flasher. For more information
about using the high beams, see ¢
page 54 .
CRUISE/(,)° Cruise control
The Iij;jl)~i~ (USA models) ;II (Canada models)
warning/indicator light illum inates when the
cru ise control is activated.
ABS/(@) Anti-lock brake system (ABS)
This warning/indicator light monitors the ABS
and the electronic differential lock (EDL).
The &1i,B (USA models) ;Ei] (Canada models)
warning/indicator light will come on for a few
seconds when the ignition is switched on . The
light will go out after an automatic check se -
quence is comp leted .
There is a malfunction in the ABS when:
- The warning/indicator light does not illum i-
nate when you switch on the ignition.
- The warn ing/indicator light does not go out
after a few seconds.
- The warning/indicator light illuminates
while driving .
The brake system will still respond even
without the assistance of the ABS system.
See your authorized Audi dealer as soon as
possible to restore full braking performance.

The ABS warning light and the brake warn-
ing light come on together. The ABS will not
work and you will notice a change in braking
response and performance .
Malfunction in the brake system
If the brake warn ing light ¢ page 18 and
the ABS warning illuminate
together there
may be a malfunction in the ABS, and the re
may also be a malfunction in the bra ke system

In the event of a
malfunction in the brake
system
the warning/ind icator light -

str ument cluster flashes. By press ing the
ISETI
button, you can bring up a d river message
which explains the malfunction in more de-
