A WARNING
- Failure to heed warning lights and other
important vehicle info rmation may result
in serious personal injury or vehicle dam-
age.
- Whenever stall ed or stopped for repair,
move the vehicle a safe distance
off the
road, stop the engine, and t urn on the
emergency flasher ¢ page 63.
- The engine compartment of any motor
vehicle is a potentially hazardous area.
Before you check anything in the engine
compartment, stop the engine and let it
cool down. Always exercise extreme cau-
t ion when working under the hood

page 30. Malfunct ions
or faults will be identif ied either w ith a red
symbo l (pr iority 1 - Danger!) or with a yel-
low symbol (prior ity 2 - Warning) .
EPC Electronic power control
Applies to veh icles: with gasoline engine
This warning/indicator Light monitors the
electronic power control .
The Illa warn ing/ indicator light (Electron ic
Power Control) illuminates when you turn on
the ignit ion as a funct ion check.
(D Tips
If this warn ing/ indicator light illum inates
while you are driving, then there is a mal-
funct ion in the engine electronics . Have
the malfunct ion corrected as soon as pos-
sible by your author ized Audi dealer or
qualified workshop.
W Glow plug system
Applies to veh icles: with diesel engine
The control Light illuminates when the glow
plug system is active.
If the II ind icator light illuminates, the glow
plug system is active. You should start the en-
gine immediately after the ind icator light
swit ches
off. The indicator light only illum i-
nates fo r approximate ly 1 second if the en-
gine is warm or if the outside temperature is
above 46 QF (8 QC).
(D Tips
- If the glow plug indicat or light illum i-
nates while dr iving, there is an engine
contro l malfunction. The engine should
be checked immediate ly.
- If the ind icator light does not ill uminate
at all when switching the ignition on,
there may be a malfunction in the glow
plug system. The engine should be
checked.
