The ABS warning light and the brake warn-
ing light come on together. The ABS will not
work and you will notice a change in braking
response and performance.
Ma lf unction in th e brak e system
If the brake warn ing light <=>page 19 and
the ABS warning ill uminate
together there
may be a malfunction in the ABS, and there
may also be a malfunct ion in the brake system
itself <=>,&..
In the event of a malfun ct ion in the brake
system
the warning/indicator light 1111
(USA models) . (Canada models) in the in-
strument cluster flashes. By pressing the
ICHECKI button, you can br ing up a driver
message which explains the malfunct ion in
more deta il. Please note
<=>page 32.
Malfunction in t he electronic diff ere nti al
lock (EDL)
The EDL works together with the ABS. The
ABS warning light will come on if there is a
malfunct ion in the EDL system
<=>page 223 .
See your autho rized Audi dealer as soon as
possible.
.&, WARNING

- If the ml (USA models) ;tlJ (Canada
models) warning light does not go out,
or if it comes on while driving, the ABS
system is not working properly. The vehi-
cle can then be stopped only with the
standard brakes (without ABS). You will
not have the protection ABS provides.
Contact your authorized Audi dealer as
soon as possible.
- If the
1111 (USA models)/ . (Canada
models) brake system indicator light
tu rns on together with the ABS and ESC
indicator ligh t s, the ABS/ESC regu lating
f unction may have failed. Functions that
stabilize the vehicle are no longer availa-
ble. This could cause the vehicle to
swerve and increase the risk of sliding.
Drive carefully to the nearest authorized
Audi dealer or other qualified workshop
and have the malfunction corrected.
:l~/(®) Parking brake
The indicator light monitors the parking
brake.
When the parking brake is applied and the ig-
nition is switched on, the . (USA models) /
• (Canada models) indicator light comes on.
The ind icator light must go out when the
parking brake is released.
BRAKE/CCDl Brake system
The warning/indicator light flashes if brake
fluid level is low, if there is an
ABS system
ma/function or a parking brake ma/function.
The 1111 (USA models)/ . (Canada models)
light illum inates when the ignition is turned
on. It goes out after the engine has been
started . This indicates that the brake warning
light is functioning properly.
If the brake warning light does not light up
when th e engine is cranking, th ere may be a
malfunction in the elect rical system. In thi s
case, contact your Audi dealer.
If the brake system warning/indicator light
flashes, there is a brake system malfunction .
By pressing the
I CH ECK i button, you can bring
up a driver message which explains the mal-
function in more detai l

If the ABS fai ls, the ABS warning/ indicator
light

flashes together with the brake system warn-
