With the ex cep tion of the mains power switch and the mon i tor speaker vol -
ume con trol, there are no knobs, di als, con trols, read outs, me ters or switches
on 2700 se ries in stru ment hard ware. All of the mea sure ment set tings and ad -
just ments are made in soft ware on the PC.
APIB
The AP2700 con trol soft ware on the PC com mu ni cates with the 2700 hard -
ware in one of two ways:

USB-APIB
In tro duced with the re lease of AP2700 ver sion 3.3, the USB-APIB
adapter pro vides a con ve nient USB in ter face to the in stru ment. USB op -
er a tion is not sup ported by ear lier ver sions of AP2700.
§
APIB
APIB (Au dio Pre ci sion In ter face Bus) is a pro pri etary bus in ter con nec -
tion that re quires a ded i cated APIB ca ble and PC-mounted APIB in ter -
face card or adapter. APIB in ter faces are avail able as PCI, PCI Ex press
or PCMCIA-com pat i ble de vices.
The USB-APIB adapter or APIB in ter face are spec i fied at the time your
sys tem is or dered. An in ter face adapter kit can also be or dered separately.
GPIB
When or dered with the op tional GPIB con fig u ra tion (SYS-27xx-G), a 2700
se ries in stru ment can also be con trolled by the in dus try-stan dard IEEE 488.2
Gen eral Pur pose In ter face Bus (GPIB). A LabVIEW pro ject in stru ment driver
is also avail able for use with GPIB. See Chap ter 7 for more in for ma tion about
the 2700 se ries GPIB con fig u ra tion.
2700 Series Capabilities
The fully-equipped 2700 se ries in stru ment, model SYS-2722, is a dual do -
main in stru ment; it can per form anal y sis in both the an a log do main and the
dig i tal do main si mul ta neously. The func tional com po nents im ple mented in
SYS-2722 in clude an an a log sig nal gen er a tor, a dig i tal sig nal gen er a tor, an an -
a log an a lyzer, a dig i tal an a lyzer, and dig i tal in put and out put and syn chro ni za -
tion ca pa bil i ties. “Cross-do main” test ing (for ex am ple, providing an in put in
one do main to a con verter such as an ADC or a DAC, and mea sur ing the out -
put in the sec ond do main) is straightforward, and can be per formed us ing op ti -
mal tech niques and com po nents for each domain.
The an a log gen er a tor and an a lyzer have a num ber of hard ware op tions that
can be added to en hance the in stru ment’s ca pa bil ity, in clud ing plug-in fil ters,
