Thetford cassette toilet (C223)
These instructions apply to the Expedition 66 and Expedition 67 models only. Please see the Thetford C402
instructions on page 27 for the Expedition 68.
The toilet is made up of two parts: a permanently fixed toilet and a waste holding tank that is accessible from the
outside of the vehicle. The removable waste holding tank is located under the toilet and can be removed via an
access door on the outside of the campervan.
BEFORE USING THE TOILET
Prepare the waste holding tank using the below instructions:
• Remove the waste-holding tank through the service door (01).
• Place the waste-holding tank upright and turn the pour out spout upwards.
• Remove the cap from the pour out spout (02).
• Check the correct dosage of Thetford waste-holding tank additive on the package.
• Add the stated dosage to the waste-holding tank (03).
• Add ±3ltr of water to the waste-holding tank to ensure that the bottom of the waste-holding tank is
covered (03).
• Screw the cap back onto the pour out spout.
• Slide the waste-holding tank back into its original position via the service door (04).
USING THE TOILET
Turning the toilet bowl:
• Close the lid and use both hands to rotate the bowl to the desired
position (max. 90° clockwise and 170° counter clockwise) (05).
Opening the blade:
• Open the blade by moving the blade handle from left to right (06).
• Always close the blade completely after use.
Please note: The toilet can be used with the blade open or closed.
Flushing the toilet:
• Make sure the blade is open.
• Press the flush button and hold it for several seconds to flush the toilet (07).
Please note: Ordinary toilet paper can cause clogging. It is suggested you use Thetford Aqua Soft toilet
paper for your toilet. This toilet paper is super-soft, dissolves quickly, prevents clogging and makes it
easier to empty the waste-holding tank.
The flush of your toilet will be more eective if you pulsate the flush by pressing the flush button several
times in a row.
To prevent water damage and reduce unpleasant smells in your campervan, do not travel with water in the
toilet bowl and do not leave water in the toilet bowl if the toilet is not being used.
EMPTYING THE WASTE TANK
Your toilet has a 1-level indication for the waste holding tank. When the slide turns from green to red, the
waste-holding tank is full.
• Remove the waste-holding tank (01).
• Fold out the pull handle until it is fully extended.
• Pull the tank to an authorised waste disposal point (08).
• Place the waste-holding tank upright and turn the pour out spout upwards.
• Remove the cap from the pour out spout (02).
• Press and hold the vent button with your thumb while the pour out spout is pointing downwards to
empty the waste-holding tank (09).
• Add ±5ltr of water to the waste-holding tank and replace the cap (10).
• Gently shake the tank to clean it (11). Empty the waste-holding tank again (09).
• Remove the float from the waste-holding tank by turning it clockwise and rinse the float with tap water (12).
• Fold in the pull handle until it clicks into place.
• Slide the waste-holding tank into the toilet and close the service door (04).
• Follow the 'before using the toilet' instructions to prepare it for use again.
Please note: To prevent water damage to your campervan, do not travel with a waste-holding tank that is
more than 75% full. This may cause leakage through the venting system. Thetford green toilet additives are
completely safe to empty into a septic tank or small biological systems on camping sites.
