1. SAFETY
About this chapter
Read this chapter attentively. It contains important information to prev ent personal injury while installing and using your DP2K-
CLP series projector. Furthermore, it includes s everal cautions to prevent damage to your DP2K-CLP s eries projector. Ens ure that
you un derstand and follow all safety guidelines, safety instructions and warnings mentioned in this chapter before installing and
using the DP2K-CLP series projector. After this chapter, additional “warnings” and “cautions” are given depending on the procedure.
Read and follow these “warnings” an d “cautions” as well.
Clarification of the term “DP2K-CLP series” used in this document
When referrin g in this document to the term “ DP2K -CLP series” means that the content is applicable for following Barco products:
• DP2K-15CLP
• DP2K-20CLP
Barco provides a guarantee relating to perfect manufacturing as part of the legally stipulated terms of guar-
antee. O bserving the specification mentioned in this chapter is critical for projector performance. Neglecting
this can result in loss of warranty.

1.1 General considerations
General safety instructions
• Before operating t his equipment please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference.
• Installation and preliminary adjustments should be performed by qualified B arco personnel or by authorize d Barco service deal-
ers.
• All warnings on the projector and in the documentation manuals should be adhered to.
• All instructions for operating and use of this equipment must be followed precisely.
• All local installation codes should be adhered to.
Notice on safety
This equ ipment is built in accordance w ith the requirements of the international safety standards IEC60950-1, EN60950-1,
UL60950-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.60950-1, w hich are the safety standards of information technology equipmen t including
electrical bus iness equipment. These s afety standards impose im portant requirements on the use of s afety critic al co mponents,
materials and ins ulation, in order to protect the user or operator against risk o f electric shock and energy haz ard and having ac cess
to live parts. Safety standards also impo se limits to the internal and external temperature rises, radiation levels, mechanical sta b ility
and strength, enclosure construction an d protection against the risk of fire. Sim ulated single fault condition testing ensures the
safety of the equipment to the user even when the equipment’s normal operation fails.
Notice on optical radiation
This projector embed s extremely high brightness (radiance) lasers; this laser light is processed through the projectors optical path.
Native laser light is not accessible by the
end user in an y use case. Th e light exiting the projection lens has been defused within the
optical path, representing a larger source and lower radiance value than n ative lase r light. N evertheless t he projected light repre-
sents a s ignificant risk for the human eye when exposed directly w ithin the beam. This risk is not specific related to the chara cteristics
of laser light but solely to the high the
rmal induced energy of the light source; which is equivalent with lamp based systems.
Thermal retinal eye injury is possible when exposed within the Hazard Distance (HD). T he HD is de fined from the projection lens
surface towards the pos ition of the projected beam where the irradiance equals the maximum per missible exposure as described in
the chapte r “Hazard Distance”.
