1. Safety
High leakage current:
The combination of multiple tiles in an installation results in increased levels of leakage c urrent. In order to avoid risk of electric
shock due to high leakage c urrent, proper grounding of the installation is required.
Flammable materials:
Keep flam mable m aterials away from the installation (such a s curtains). A lot of energy is transferred into heat. Th e installation
should be such that the am ount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not comprom ised. Proper ve ntilation m ust
be provided.
ESD and LE D’s:
LED components used in X8 d isplays are ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) sensitive. To prevent the possibility of de stroying LED
components do not touch either in operation or while switched off.
Risk of electric sho ck / Risk of fire:
To protect against r isk of fire caused by ove rloading of power cables, MAXIMUM 4 X8 Connection Boxes may be connected in
parallel. Each power sou rce cab le s upplying maximum 4 X8 Connection Box es should be protected by a circuit b reaker or fuses
rated 16 A / 250 VAC (15 A / 250 VAC in t he USA and Canada). Note t hat one X8 C onnection B ox r equires 200-240
VAC, 50-60 Hz,
3.6 amps at 200 VAC.
Disconnect device:
When the appliance inlets of the individual tiles are not accessible, the socket outlets supplying the r ack shall be installed near t he
equipment and be easily accessible, or a readily accessible general disconnect device shall be incorporated in the fixed wiring.
This equipment M US T be earthed:
In order to protect ag ainst risk of electric shock, the installation should be p roperly grounded. Defeating the purp ose of the gr ounding
type plug will expose yo u to the risk of electric shock.
Power system:
It is recommended to use a TN-S power distribution system (a power distribution system with a separate neutral and grounding
conductor) in order to avoid large ground current loops due to voltage differences in the neutral c onductor. T he total electrical
installation should be protected by an appropriately rated disconnect switch, circuit breakers, over voltage protector and G round Fault
Current Interrupters. The installation shall be done according to the local elec trical installation codes. In Eur ope s pecial attention
should be given to HD 60364, H armonization Docum ent for electrical installation of buildings. In Germany VD E 0100 should be
adhered to. In America, spec ial attention should be given to the National Elec trical Code, A N SI/NFPA 70.
Mains co rds:
The pow er cords delivered with th is s ystem have special properties fo
r safety. They are no t user serviceable. If the po w er cords are
damaged, replace them only with new ones. Never try to repair a power cord.
Data cab les:
The data c ables p rovided with this system have special properties for safety. They are not user serviceable. If the data cables a re
damaged, replace them o n ly with new ones . Never try to repair a data cable. Per requirements of the National Electrical Code®
in the U SA , the length of a data cable m ust not exceed 42 m (140 feet). Avoid exposure of data cables to accidental c ontact with
lightning or power conductors.
Maximum height
The max imum height of a X8 display is limited: maximum
3 tiles high for a floor mount and max imum 13 tiles high for a hanging
config uration.
Base surface
Do n ot install a base stand X8 display upon a smooth surfaces. Place rubber mats between the foot beams of the LED wall and the
smooth surface to increase f riction
1.4 Proper usage
Proper usage of X8 tiles
• No par t of the X8 tile c an come in contact w ith any type of corrosive s ubstance.
• Using the LE D product in a n environment w ith high cor rosive gass es (e.g. Sulphur) c an lead to discoloration of the materials.
This discoloration gives a c hange in b rightness of the product. This could lead to uniformity differences and possibly also to
failures. Ea ch us e of the product in this kind of environment needs to be checked up-front with the supplier.
• X8 tiles are to be used in environments meeting the operating specifi ca t io ns.
• X8 tiles are not to be used in environments that are subject to airborne contaminants s uch as that produced by smoke machines
(cracked oil) or similar (these deposit a thin layer of greasy residue upon the L EDs optics, degrading performance).
• X8 tiles are not to be exposed to extreme loca lized heat or cold exceeding the t emperature spec ifications.
• X8 tiles are not to be exposed to any element or situation that will cause any part of the display to hea t beyond what o ccurs
during normal operation. Such situations include but are not limited to lasers, ultrasonic vibration, or any type of substance that
prevents p roper ventilation and heat radiation of the X8 tiles.
