Enclosure Leakage Current
NOTE! When performing Enclosure Leakage Current test using the Safety Analyzer, follow the
instructions provided by the instrument manufacturer.
CAUTION! Please note there is considerable hazard in performing this test. Use precautionary measures
to avoid contact with the line voltage. In addition, any time that the ground connection has
been opened, do not touch the chassis or patient cable during the test.
Perform all of the following tests with the correct shorting plug inserted into the patient connections.
Connect the 220 VAC power cord from the Safety Analyzer into the unit. Verify that the monitor is on.1.
Apply the ying test lead from the Safety Analyzer to the earth ground (rotary encoder). Verify that the 2.
leakage current is less than 100 μA.
Induce the following single fault conditions: open ground, open neutral. Verify that the leakage current is 3.
always less than 500 μA.
Reverse the polarity of main supply (reverse hot/neutral lines) and repeat steps 2 and 3.4.
Patient Leakage Current
NOTE! When performing Patient Leakage Current test using the Safety Analyzer, follow the instructions
provided by the instrument manufacturer.
Verify that the monitor is o.1.
Connect patient I/O “Shorting” plugs to all of installed parameter connectors (ECG, IP, TEMP, Oximeter).2.
Apply the flying test lead from the Safety Analyzer to each patient connection. Verify that the leakage 3.
current from each patient connection to ground is less than 10 μA.
Induce the following single fault conditions: open ground, open neutral. Verify that the leakage current is 4.
always less than 50 μA.
Reverse the polarity of main supply (reverse hot/neutral lines) and repeat steps 7 and 8.5.
Turn off the monitor and apply Mains voltage to the ECG connector.6.
Measure the leakage current from the ECG connector to ground. Verify that the leakage current is less than 7.
50 μA.
Induce the following single fault conditions: open ground, open neutral. Verify that the leakage current is 8.
always less than 50 μA.
Reverse the polarity of main supply (reverse hot/neutral lines) and repeat steps 11 and 12.9.
