4. Place new C-ring over chamfered end of
shaft.
5. Align one of the slots (G, Figure 28) of C-
Ring Installer #19435 with open end of C-
ring (H).
6. Press on tool until C-ring snaps into
groove in shaft.
7. Manually actuate pinion gear on helix to
ensure proper movement.

Disassemble Starter Drive - Roll Pin Retainer
1. Place starter drive retainer on support
block (Figure 29) and drive out roll pin (A,
Figure 30) with a 5/32” (.4mm) pin punch.
Discard roll pin.

2. Remove retainer (B), washer (C), pinion
gear (D), and starter clutch (E) from starter
shaft.
