APPENDIX C RNDIS DRIVER
The 671 Laser Wavelength Meter communicates over USB interface with a virtual
Ethernet connection. This uses the Remote Network Driver Interface Specification
(RNDIS). Most Windows versions (Windows 7 or newer) are shipped with this driver.
However, sometimes (mainly with Windows 7) it is necessary to manually enable the
RNDIS driver if the computer does not recognize the 671 system. After connecting the
671 system to the PC via USB interface and powering up the 671 system, a successful
connection will show up in the device manager under network adapters as
“RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget.” The IP4 address for communication with the 671 via RNDIS
is 10.199.199.1, port 23.
