Set your preferred shutter speed before shooting as follows. The camera
automatically adjusts the aperture value to suit your shutter speed.

z Set the mode dial to [ ].

z Turn the [ ] ring to set the shutter speed.

ā— In conditions requiring slower shutter speeds, there may be a
delay before you can shoot again, as the camera processes
images to reduce noise.
ā— When shooting at low shutter speeds on a tripod, you should set
[IS Mode] to [Off] (

52).
ā— Orange display of the aperture value when you press the shutter
button halfway indicates that the optimum exposure has not been
obtained. Adjust the shutter speed until the aperture value is
displayed in white, or use safety shift (

93).
