Why does a TempGuard message appear during a CEM EasyPrep Laboratory Equipment run?
    • L
      Leslie BrewerAug 11, 2025
A TempGuard message might appear because some vessels are hotter than others, or because TempGuard variables are programmed incorrectly (if your software version is older than 1.49). To solve this: * Follow the “Liner Bake-out Procedure” to reduce temperature differences in liners. * Avoid mixing old and new liners; run them in separate turntables. * If your software version is older than 1.49, adjust your TempGuard settings. Set the TempGuard limit at 30 °C above the control temperature if the control temperature is below 230 °C, or 20 °C above if it's above 230 °C. For digesting organics with HNO3, limit TempGuard to 250 °C; for HPO/HSO applications, limit it to 300 °C.

How to fix a Max Power Monitor message during a CEM EasyPrep run?
    • S
      scottsallyAug 17, 2025
A Max Power Monitor message during a run may appear if vessels are leaking or the turntable isn't aligned. Ensure vessels are assembled correctly and torqued using the torque tool. Also, perform turntable calibration as outlined in the MARS Manual.

What to do if I see uneven bar graphs during a CEM EasyPrep Laboratory Equipment run?
    • S
      stacey09Aug 25, 2025
Uneven bar graphs can occur due to several reasons: * Acid diluted with water: Avoid diluting acids by more than 25% when running above 220 ºC. * Inconsistent samples: Use samples with similar properties and amounts in all vessels. * Inconsistent acids: Ensure you use the same acid and volume in each vessel. * Temperature variations: Follow the “Liner Bake-out Procedure” to minimize liner temperature differences. * Acid blanks: Refer to "Sample Preparation Safeguards" for specific details when using acid blanks. * Leaking liners: Inspect and replace any worn or damaged vessel components.

Why is there corrosion on the cover ring of my CEM EasyPrep?
    • M
      megan07Aug 29, 2025
Corrosion on the cover ring can be caused by leaking vessels, using the wrong cover for the acid application, or soaking the cover in an acid bath. To address this: * Select the appropriate cover based on the acid you are using. * Replace covers that have delaminated rings or heavy corrosion. * Use a standard composite ring for applications primarily using HNO3, HF, H2SO4, and H3PO4. * Use a premium cover (titanium metal ring) for non-HF applications with heavy use of HCl and aqua regia. * Do not soak covers to clean; rinse with water and let them dry before use.

What to do if there is corrosion on the ESP-1500+ Pressure Sensor of my CEM Laboratory Equipment?
    • C
      Cynthia StrongSep 4, 2025
Corrosion on the ESP-1500+ Pressure Sensor is due to exterior acid exposure. To prevent this: * Do not leave the pressure sensor in a fume hood or acidic environment when it's not in use. * Place the protective black rubber cap on the connector end when not in use to minimize contact with acid fumes, dust, and dirt. * If pressure readings are erratic or the sensor won't read pressure, replace the pressure sensor.
