Overview

This document is an owner's manual and safety instructions for the Central Pneumatic oilless airbrush compressor, model 93657.

Function Description:

The Central Pneumatic oilless airbrush compressor is designed to provide a steady supply of compressed air for airbrushing applications. It is an oilless compressor, meaning it does not require oil for lubrication, which simplifies maintenance and prevents oil contamination in the air supply. The compressor features a pressure regulator and a pressure gauge to allow users to adjust and monitor the air pressure, ensuring precise control for various airbrushing tasks. A water trap is integrated into the system to remove moisture from the air, which is crucial for achieving high-quality finishes and preventing damage to the airbrush and artwork. The compressor is equipped with a power switch for easy operation and a handle for portability. It is specifically designed for use with airbrushes and should not be used with other types of painting equipment. The unit is designed to automatically shut off on overload or under excessive heat to prevent damage, requiring the user to turn off the power switch and allow it to cool before resuming operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Electrical Rating: 120VAC / 2A
  • Motor Speed: 1,750 RPM
  • Power Cord Length: 6 feet

    • For 16.1-20.0 amperes, 12 AWG for 25 ft, 10 AWG for 50 ft.

Usage Features:

  • Setup: The compressor should be set up in a clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated area, at least 12 inches away from flammable objects to allow for proper air circulation. It must be placed on a flat, level, solid surface. The power cord should be routed safely to a grounded wall outlet, avoiding tripping hazards.
  • Connection: Connect one end of the air hose to the compressor's air outlet and the other end to the air inlet of an airbrush (not included).
  • Operation: After connecting, turn on the power switch. Adjust the air pressure by lifting the pressure regulator, turning it to the desired pressure, and then pressing it back down to lock the setting.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always wear ANSI-approved eye protection and a NIOSH-approved respirator during use.
    • Do not direct the air stream at people or animals.
    • Do not adjust the regulator higher than the maximum pressure of the attached airbrush.
    • The compressor is not for supplying breathing air.
    • Ensure the compressor is well-ventilated and not covered during use.
    • Do not leave the compressor unattended while plugged in. Unplug it after use.
    • The compressor head gets hot during operation; avoid touching it or allowing children nearby.
    • Do not use the air hose to move the compressor.
    • Only use accessories or attachments recommended by the manufacturer.
    • All air line components must be rated for a minimum working pressure of 150 PSI or 150% of the maximum system pressure, whichever is greater.
    • Air hose fittings can get hot; allow them to cool before disconnecting.
    • Industrial applications must follow OSHA guidelines.
    • The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children.
    • Operate the unit on a level surface.
    • People with pacemakers should consult their physician before use due to potential electromagnetic interference.
  • Grounding: The compressor requires a properly grounded electrical outlet. Never modify the plug or remove the grounding prong. If the power cord or plug is damaged, it must be repaired by a service facility.
  • Extension Cords: Use a three-wire grounded extension cord of appropriate gauge for the distance and amperage to prevent voltage drop and potential tool damage. Ensure outdoor extension cords are marked "W-A" for outdoor use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Before Each Use: Inspect the compressor for loose screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, damaged air supply hose, cracked or broken parts, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation.
  • After Each Use:
    • Drain moisture from the water trap by depressing the drain valve while the compressor is running.
    • Turn off and disconnect the compressor from its power source.
    • Wipe the compressor with a clean cloth.
  • Every Three Months: Clean the water trap filter by blowing it with compressed air.
  • Storage: Store the compressor in a dry, secure area out of reach of children.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the motor not working, irregular noises, insufficient pressure, or lack of air delivery. Solutions range from checking electrical connections and tightening screws to replacing damaged parts by a qualified service technician.
  • General Maintenance: Procedures not specifically explained in the manual must be performed by a qualified technician. Do not use damaged equipment; if abnormal noise, vibration, or air leaks occur, have the problem corrected before further use. Always turn off the power switch and unplug the compressor before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified service technician.
