1.10.5 Low diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) level
GUID-E4D419C7-FDC1-433E-945E-79C6C04909CC-high.jpg [High]
Fig. 44
AGCO Power warning strategy activates for the first time at 15% diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank level.
This warning is temporary (10 seconds) and it repeats at every engine startup, until the next warning level
is reached.
At 10% tank level, the low DEF level warning signal will be constantly activated.
At 5% (or higher tank level, corresponding to remaining DEF tank level needed for one hour driving with
maximum normal occurring DEF consumption, whichever is higher. Low DEF level warning signal will start
flashing at 1 Hz and inducements will begin.
After one hour, the engine has been derated to final level. The after treatment system (ATS) malfunction
indicator will start flashing at 1 Hz together with the low DEF level warning indicator.
The figure shows AGCO Power inducement strategy for too low DEF level. The strategy uses a slow ramp
down to final derate level to ensure vehicle and driver safety.
In case of an ATS malfunction situation leading to an increased level of emissions, the engine must be
derated in a similar manner.
Emission authorities have granted no more than 5 hours time between the detection of the fault to forcing
the engine on low idle.
