CIAS Elettronica S.r.l. Ed. 1.5
Installation Handbook Page 33 of 57 MANTA 50 – 80
2.3 Ground conditions
It is not recommended to install the equipment along sections with tall grass (more than 10
cm), ponds, longitudinal waterways, and all those types of ground whose structure is
subject to rapid changes.
2.4 Presence of Obstacles
Fences
, are generally
metallic
and therefore highly reflecting. This causes various problems,
and for this reason some precautions are suggested:
- first of all, make sure that the fence has been properly
fixed
so that it does not move in the
wind;
- if it is possible the microwave beam should
not
be placed exactly in
parallel
to a metallic
fence, but at a slight angle to it;
- metal fences placed behind the equipment night cause distortions to the sensitive beam
and might cause movement detection in unexpected areas, with subsequent generation of
false alarms likely;
- when the Mw barrier must be installed in a corridor between two metallic fences, the width
of the
corridor
should be not less to
5 m
; if less contact CIAS technical assistance
Along the section, within the area of the protection field, pipes, poles or similar (e.g., lamp posts)
are allowed as long as their dimensions, with respect to the protection beam, are not too
excessive.
Trees, hedges, bushes in general
, need
very great care
if near or within the
protection beams. These obstacles vary in size and position, they grow and they can be moved
by the wind. Therefore, it is not recommended that these obstacles are allowed within the
protected sections.
Figure 2
It is possible to tolerate the presence of these elements near the protected sections only if their
growth is limited by routine maintenance, and if their movement is stopped using containment
barriers. Various
Obstacles
might be present along the protected sections. For them it is
necessary to consider their positions and take the same necessary precautions adopted for the
above cases. These can cause
Dead zones
with no protection and
Hyper sensitive zones
which can cause false alarms.
