Configuring Controllers
There are three types of controllers for the line card. The controllers are the optics controller, the ethernet
controller, and the coherent DSP controller. This chapter describes the procedures used to configure these
controllers.
Unless otherwise specified, “line cards” refers to 1.2T and 1.2TL line cards.

AINS
The Automatic-In-Service (AINS) feature allows the controller to automatically move to the
automatic-in-service state after the maintenance window is completed. A soak time period is associated with
the AINS state. The controller automatically moves to the In-Service state after the soak time period is
completed. During the AINS maintenance window, alarms are not propagated to the EMS/NMS monitoring
system.
You can configure AINS on the client ports of the card.

Summary

Configuring Controllers

AINS

Automatic In-Service (AINS) feature for automatic state transitions after maintenance.

FEC

Forward Error Correction (FEC) for controlling data transmission errors.

Laser Squelching

Enables laser shutdown during trunk faults, raising a SQUELCHED alarm.

Idle Insertion

Holds propagation of local faults by inserting idles during trunk faults.

LLDP Drop

Configures LLDP frames to drop on client ports without forwarding.

Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) Support on Management Interface

Facilitates LLDP neighborship and information exchange over the management interface.

MAC Address Snooping on Client Ports

Learns MAC addresses of neighbors connected to client ports.

Transmit Shutdown

Shuts down the CFP2 transmit power on trunk optics controllers.

Loopback

Configures loopback on coherent DSP and ethernet controllers in maintenance mode.

Restore Factory Settings

Resets the NCS 1004 system to factory default configuration.

Headless Mode

Allows operation for up to 72 hours during CPU restarts without traffic impact.

Trail Trace Identifier

Identifies signals from source to destination within the network using ASCII strings.

Chromatic Dispersion

Configures chromatic dispersion values on optics controllers for data rates.

Transmit Power

Configures transmit power on CFP2 DCO optics for OTN-XP cards.

Frequency

Configures frequency on trunk ports of the line card within a specified range.

Pseudo Random Binary Sequence

Performs data integrity checks on trunk links using PRBS patterns.

FlexO GID and IID

Configures flexO Group Identification and Instance Identification on CoherentDSP controllers.
