What to do if CM Lodestar RR Chain Hoists will not operate at slow speed?
    • E
      Erica StrongSep 7, 2025
If your CM Chain Hoists will not operate at slow speed in either direction, consider these possibilities: * There may be an open circuit due to an open or shorted motor winding, a loose or broken wire, or a speed selecting contactor stuck in the opposite speed mode. Replace the motor, repair the wire, and/or replace the speed selecting contactor. * There could be a phase failure. Check for electrical continuity and repair or replace defective part.

Why CM Chain Hoists motor overheats?
    • J
      josephjohnNov 21, 2025
Several factors can cause a CM Chain Hoists motor to overheat: * Low voltage can cause the motor to overheat. Correct the low voltage condition. * Excessive load can strain the motor. Reduce the load to the hoist's capacity limit. * Extreme external heat, especially above 40°C (104°F), requires limiting the frequency of hoist operation or improving ventilation and shielding. * Frequent starting or reversing can overheat the motor. Avoid excessive inching, jogging, or plugging to prolong motor and contactor life and reduce brake wear. * Phase failure or unbalanced current in the phases can lead to overheating. Check for electrical continuity and repair or replace the defective part. * A dragging brake can cause the motor to work harder. Check the brake adjustment. * For 115-1...

What to do if CM Lodestar RR hook does not respond to the control station?
    • D
      Dr. Tony GomezNov 19, 2025
If the hook on your CM Chain Hoists does not respond to the control station, there are several potential causes: * There may be no voltage at the hoist, a switch may be open, or a fuse may be blown. In this case, close the switch, replace the fuse, or reset the breaker. * There could be a phase failure. Check for electrical continuity and repair or replace the defective part. * The upper or lower limit switch may have opened the control circuit. Press the other control to see if the hook responds. Adjust the limit switches. * There might be an open control circuit due to a winding issue, loose connection, or mechanical binding. Check electrical continuity and repair or replace any defective parts. * The voltage or frequency could be incorrect. Use the voltage and frequency indic...

What to do if CM Lodestar RR hook moves correctly at one speed but wrong at another?
    • J
      Jaime PerezSep 18, 2025
If the hook on your CM Chain Hoists moves in the proper direction at one speed but in the wrong direction at the other speed, it is likely due to: * Phase reversal: Wiring reconnected improperly. Interchange two leads of motor winding that is out of phase at the speed selecting relay.

What to do if CM Chain Hoists hook will not lower at fast speed?
    • K
      kimberly23Sep 16, 2025
If the hook on your CM Chain Hoists will not lower at fast speed, check for: * Phase Failure. Check for electrical continuity and repair or replace defective part. * Brake not releasing. Check electrical continutiy and connections. Check that correct coil has been installed. The coil for three phase dual voltage unit operates at 230 volts when the hoist is connected for either 230 volt or 460 volt operation. Check brake adjustment.

What to do if CM Lodestar RR Chain Hoists hook moves in wrong direction?
    • R
      Roger BrooksAug 25, 2025
If the hook on your CM Chain Hoists moves in the wrong direction, here are a few things to check: * For single-phase units, wiring connections may be reversed at the control station or terminal board. Compare the connections to the wiring diagram. * Also for single-phase units, the motor reversing switch might fail to effect dynamic braking at the time of reversal. Check the connections to the switch and replace any damaged or faulty capacitor. * For three-phase units, there may be a phase reversal.
