3.3 100-MHz SLOT 1 PROCESSOR/MEMORY SUBSYSTEM
Systems using the 100-MHz slot 1 (3-DIMM) system board feature the 350- or 400-MHz
Pentium II processor with an 82443BX system controller (north bridge) and 64 megabytes of
system memory expandable to 384 megabytes (Figure 3-5).

Processor/Memory Subsystem Architecture
The Pentium II processor is mounted in a slot 1-type connector that facilitates easy
changing/upgrading. Replacing the processor may require reconfiguring DIP switch SW1 to
select the correct bus frequency/core frequency combination. Frequency selection is described in
detail later in this section.
The 443BX system controller provides the Host/PCI bridge functions and controls data transfers
with system memory over the 64-bit memory data bus. This system supports SDRAM and ECC
DIMMs and can be expanded to 384 megabytes.
