4. Safety Instructions
Follow folding/unfolding instructions.
Never leave occupied chair unattended.
Do not attempt to take occupi ed chai r up or down stai rs, escalators,
steep inclines, or icy or slippery surfaces.
To avoi d ti ppi ng, do not overload the chai r, or hang heavy i tems on the handles.
Be aware of newly created sharp edges.
Frequently i nspect the adjustments on the fra me and the posi ti oni ng accessori es.
Do not use chair after occupant has outgrown it.
Do not ignore minor malfunctions and maintain the chair in good operating
condition. Monitor the wheel locks (brakes) regularly and adjust as needed.
When goi ng up a curb or step, face the chai r forward and ti lt back to li ft the front
w heels over the cu r b. Move for wa r d a n d li ft the r ea r wheels over the cu r b.
If and whenever possible and feasible, the rider should transfer out of the
chair and into an approved vehicle seat and passenger restraint system.
However, if a transfer is not possible, use only designated chairs in a moving vehicle
whi ch apply to the Wheelchai r Ti edown and Occupant Restrai n System (WTORS)
following the requirements of SAE J2249. Follow tie-down harness manufacturers
instructions carefully and refer to ConvaidsTransit Guide for specifics.
When going up a curb or step, face forward and
ti lt the chai r back to li ft the front wheels over the
curb. Move forward and lift the rear wheels over
the curb.
