  If your Craftsman Snow Blower engine fails to start, there are several potential causes: * The choke might not be in the CHOKE position; if so, move it to the CHOKE position. * The spark plug wire could be disconnected; connect the wire to the spark plug. * The fuel tank may be empty or contain stale fuel; fill the tank with clean, fresh gasoline. * The engine might not be primed; prime it as instructed in the Operation section. * The spark plug could be faulty; clean, adjust the gap, or replace it. * The key may not be fully inserted into the ignition; insert the key fully into the switch.

  If your Craftsman Snow Blower engine is running erratically, with inconsistent RPM (hunting or surging), here are a few things to check: * Ensure the engine isn't running on CHOKE; if it is, move the choke lever to the RUN position. * The fuel may be stale; replace it with clean, fresh gasoline. * There might be water or dirt in the fuel system; drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel. * The carburetor might be out of adjustment or the engine over-governed; in these cases, contact an authorized Service Center.

  If your Craftsman Snow Blower is not discharging snow, consider these possible causes: * The chute assembly may be clogged; stop the engine immediately, disconnect the spark plug wire, and clean the chute assembly and inside of the auger housing using a clean-out tool or a stick. * A foreign object might be lodged in the auger; stop the engine immediately, disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove the object from the auger using a clean-out tool or a stick. * The auger control cable may need adjustment; refer to the Auger Control Test. * The auger belt could be loose or damaged; refer to the Maintenance & Adjustments section. * The shear pin(s) may have sheared; replace them with new shear pin(s).
