Why won't my Cub Cadet Trimmer engine start?
    • S
      sandra10Aug 5, 2025
Several factors could prevent your Cub Cadet Trimmer from starting. It might be due to old fuel (over 30 days old); if that's the case, drain the fuel tank and add fresh fuel. Another reason could be that the primer bulb wasn't pressed enough; try pressing it fully and slowly 10 times. A fouled spark plug may also be the culprit; consider replacing or cleaning it. Also, the engine might be overheated.

    • L
      Leah WilliamsAug 11, 2025
If your Cub Cadet Trimmer engine won't accelerate, the issue might be due to several reasons. Old fuel (over 30 days) can be a cause; in this case, drain the gas tank and add fresh fuel. Another possibility is that the cutting attachment is bound with grass; stop the engine and clean the cutting attachment. A dirty air filter can also prevent acceleration; clean or replace the air filter.

What to do if Cub Cadet BC509 Trimmer cutting attachment will not advance line?
    • P
      pamelaanthonyAug 20, 2025
If the cutting attachment on your Cub Cadet Trimmer won't advance the line, there are several possible causes. The cutting attachment might be bound with grass, so stop the engine and clean the cutting attachment. The cutting attachment may be out of line, in which case you should clean or replace the air filter. An inner reel bound up could also be the problem, requiring you to refill with a new line. The cutting head might be dirty, so clean the inner reel and outer spool. If the line is welded, disassemble, remove the welded section, and rewind. If the line is twisted when refilled, disassemble and rewind the line. Finally, not enough line might be exposed; push the bump head and pull out the line until 4 inches (102 mm) of line is outside of the cutting attachment.
