The alarm was working fine but has stopped
flashing the indicators since I changed them
and the alarm goes off if I arm it fully.
1. You have connected one (or more) of the
indicators incorrectly so the indicator output from
the alarm is connected directly to earth.
2. You have an insulation fault so the indicator
feed is shorted out to the frame.
This has blown the alarm fuse.
1. Disconnect the indicators, replace the
alarm fuse and reconnect them one at a time
trying the alarm each time you connect one.
If the alarm fuse blows, reverse the
connection to that indicator.
2. Carefully check the wiring, particularly
around the position you wired the indicators
in and where the wiring enters the indicators.
If you find a bare or chaffed wire insulate it
carefully and re-test.
I can’t find my alarm fuse The alarm fuse can be either a separate fuse
fitted during installation or within the bikes original
fuse box.
Your certificate of installation should detail
where the fuse is.
If it is an extra fuse it will give a location and
the fuse holder will be a small black
waterproof rubberised fuse holder containing
a 10 amp mini blade fuse.
If the installer has used an original fuse it will
be in the fuse box and may be one of the
following.
Fan fuse
Back-up fuse
Accessory fuse
Clock fuse
Fuel pump fuel
Datatool do not hold the position of your
alarm fuse on record.
I want to take the battery of my bike to
charge it
If the alarm is armed it will sound when the battery
is disconnected.
The best way to remove the battery is to put
the alarm into winter mode before you
disconnect it (see user manual).
However the very best solution is to use a
Datatool battery conditioner (Pt. No.
02012011).
Once the battery lead of the charger has
been connected you can simply plug in the
charger and it will keep your battery at the
optimum state of charge without damage.
