Overview

This document describes the Defender Guard PRO Wi-Fi Camera, a security system designed for home monitoring. It provides a quick start guide for setting up and using the camera, focusing on its features, installation, and app integration.

Function Description

The Defender Guard PRO is a Wi-Fi camera system primarily used for security and surveillance. It captures video footage and can be accessed remotely via a dedicated mobile application. The camera is designed to monitor specific areas, providing live video feeds and recording capabilities. It operates on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and is not compatible with 5 GHz networks. The system includes motion detection and human detection features, which trigger notifications and record video clips when activity is detected. It also incorporates a spotlight and siren for deterrence. The camera stores recorded footage on a pre-installed Micro SD card, with options for continuous recording or scheduled recording periods.

Usage Features

  • App-Based Control: The primary interface for controlling and monitoring the Defender Guard PRO camera is the "Defender Guard" mobile application, available for both Android and iOS devices. Users must download the app and create an account for verification.
  • Camera Pairing: To set up the camera, users plug it in to power on, wait for the LED indicator light to flash green, and then use the app to scan a QR code on the camera for pairing. If the QR code cannot be scanned, manual addition is an option. The app guides users through connecting the camera to their 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network by selecting the network and entering the password.
  • Live View and Recording: The app's home screen displays a live view from the camera. Users can access device settings, view all paired cameras, and manage notifications. Within the live view, a tool bar allows for various actions, including saving snapshots, recording videos to the phone/tablet, and accessing recorded footage.
  • Two-Way Talk: The camera supports two-way audio communication, enabling users to speak through the camera and hear audio from its location.
  • Deterrence Features:
    • Spotlight Deterrence: The camera features a spotlight that can be configured to flash when motion is detected, particularly in night vision mode. This acts as a visual deterrent.
    • Siren Deterrence: A loud 110db siren can be activated through the app, serving as an audible deterrent. Users are cautioned about the siren's volume.
  • Night Vision Modes: The camera offers multiple night vision modes to suit different lighting conditions:
    • Smart Night Vision: Turns on the infrared (IR) light in low light and automatically switches to color night vision when motion is detected, activating the spotlight.
    • Color Night Vision: Keeps the spotlight on continuously in low light conditions, providing a color image.
    • Infrared Night Vision: Provides a black and white image using IR light.
  • Motion Detection and Human Detection:
    • Motion Detection: Records video when any movement is detected.
    • Human Detection: Specifically pushes notifications for human activity, while still recording all motion clips. This helps reduce false alarms.
    • Detection Sensitivity: Users can adjust the sensitivity level of motion detection from 1 (low) to 5 (high) to fine-tune alerts.
    • Detection Region Setting: Allows users to define specific areas within the camera's view where motion detection should be active. Regions highlighted in orange detect motion, while grey areas do not trigger alarms. The invert button can switch these areas.
  • Continuous and Scheduled Recording: The camera supports continuous recording, overwriting older footage once the SD card is full. Users can also set up specific recording schedules for different days and times.
  • Device Sharing: The app allows users to share camera access with up to 5 additional users. Each shared user needs to download the app and create their own account. Permissions for shared users can be customized.
  • Image Rotation: The camera feed can be rotated by 180 degrees in the app, useful if the camera is installed upside down.
  • Status LED Control: The LED indicator light on the camera can be turned on or off via the app.

Maintenance Features

  • SD Card Management: The camera uses a Micro SD card for local storage. The document notes that once the SD card is full, older footage will be overwritten to ensure continuous recording. The SD card memory can be expanded up to 256GB.
  • Reset Functionality: If the camera shows a solid or flashing red LED indicator, indicating it's not connected or initializing, users can reset the camera by pressing and holding the reset button until a beep is heard. A flashing green light indicates the camera is ready to connect.
  • Wi-Fi Signal Strength Check: Before mounting, users are advised to test the Wi-Fi strength and video feed using the app's "Wi-Fi Detection Tool" to ensure a clear and uninterrupted view. This helps in choosing an optimal installation location.
  • Physical Adjustment: The camera's position can be adjusted using a Phillips #2 screwdriver to loosen and tighten a screw, allowing for optimal video view. The antennas can also be adjusted if needed.
  • Power Supply: The camera comes with a 10 ft power supply and a 25 ft extension cable, providing flexibility for placement. It's important to note that the camera power supply is NOT waterproof.
