Resulting speed/voltage curve upon load change
Testing is easily done by using (if possible) a load bank applying ‘jumps’ in the generator load,
thus testing the speed/voltage control.
The optimum result is indicated by this curve:
As indicated, 2-3 ‘overshoots’ before stabilising after a sudden change is OK. If more
‘overshoots’ are present, then decrease the K
P
factor and try again.
