How to setup mixed stack of N3000E-ON, N3000, N3132PX-ON Switches (Advanced-Lite)
Dell EMC Networking N3000E-ON switches can be mixed stack with N3000 and N3132PX-ON switches of up to 8
units. Dell EMC Networking N3132PX-ON switches has an expansion slot to install optional stacking module with
two mini-SAS stack ports. Dell EMC Networking N3000E-ON and N3000 Series switches are available with two
fixed mini-SAS stack ports.
Administrators setting up mixed stack of N3000E-ON, N3000 Series and N3132PX-ON Standalone switches
should follow the below steps below:
1. Back up your configuration of N3000E-ON and N3000 and N3132PX-ON Switches.
2. Upgrade using telnet or SSH require default enable authentication method or enable password in current
configuration. If not configured follow steps below to configure an enable password:
console#configure
console(config)#enable password <password>
console(config)#exit
console#copy running-config startup-config
3. Download the 6.5.3.6 firmware image (N3000AdvLitev6.5.3.6.stk) to N3000E-ON and N3000 Series
switches
4. Activate 6.5.3.6 (Advanced-Lite) firmware on N3000E-ON and N3000 Series switches.
5. Reload the switches
6. Download the 6.5.3.6 firmware image (N3100AdvLitev6.5.3.6.stk) to N3132PX-ON switch.
7. Activate 6.5.3.6 (Advanced-Lite) firmware on N3132PX-ON switch.
8. Reload the switch.
9. After switches reloaded, download and activate the mixed-stack firmware image
(N3000N3100AdvLitev6.5.3.6.itb) on N3000E-ON, N3000 and N3132PX-ON switches.
10. Reload the switches again.
11. Power OFF N3000E-ON, N3000 and N3132PX-ON switches. Plug-in mini-SAS stack cables and form the
stack between N3000E-ON, N3000 and N3132PX-ON switches.
12. Power ON stack (N3000E-ON, N3000 and N3132PX-ON).
13. Verify the stack of N3000E-ON, N3000 and N3132PX-ON switches via show switch and show version
command output like below:
