Installing the Software 19
Assign an IP address to a VLAN
VLANs are a Layer 2 feature. For two physical interfaces on different VLANs
to communicate, you must assign an IP address to the VLANs to route traffic
between the two interfaces. The shutdown command in INTERFACE mode
does not affect Layer 2 traffic on the interface.
NOTE: An IP address cannot be assigned to the Default VLAN, which, by default,
is VLAN 1. To assign another VLAN ID to the Default VLAN, use the default
vlan-id vlan-id command.
Connecting the S4810 to the Network
Once you have completed the hardware installation and software configuration
for the S4810, you can connect to your company network by following your
company’s cabling requirements.
