If basic connectivity between the CNA and MXL Series Dell switch is absent, verify the cable connection and replace it if necessary. Check the server's OS to ensure the network card is enabled and active. Also, confirm that the appropriate driver for the OS is loaded, including both Ethernet and storage device drivers for the CNA, if applicable. Ensure that the internal server-facing ports on the MXL are enabled using the 'no shutdown' command. Also, check external ports on the MXL switch or Cisco Nexus 5000 series switch and enable them if needed. Lastly, configure the switch default VLAN-ID appropriately, ensuring it's used as the default or native VLAN for the FCoE ports for initial FIP negotiations.
