Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Interface
A drive with a SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) interface can be linked directly to controllers. The SAS
interface offers the following advantages over the traditional SCSI interface:
v SAS enables multiple devices (up to 128) of different sizes and types to be connected simultaneously
with thinner and longer cables.
v Its full-duplex signal transmission supports up to 6.0 Gb/s.
v SAS drives can be hot-plugged.
Encryption
The Tape Drive has Application Managed Encryption (AME) with T10 encryption methods. You must
have an application that supports encryption to use the drive's encryption capability. Data encryption is
supported by LTO Ultrium 4 and later data cartridges only. For more details, consult your application
support documentation.
