The input signal is the 24 VDC power input. Sinking and sourcing are the current driving capabilities of a circuit.
They are defined as follows.
Sinking Sourcing
Sinking=The current flows into the common
terminal S/S.
Souring=The current flows from the common
terminal S/S.
