(8) The engine stalls when decelerating.
Clogged air cleaner element
Description
The engine suddenly stops when decelerating.
Possible Cause
• Engine cooling system
• Crankshaft position sensor
• Engine ECU power supply circuit
• Supply pump
• Injector
• Start signal circuit
1 Verify that the engine is not overheated. Repair the engine cooling system.
2 Check the crankshaft position sensor. (Refer to
the crankshaft position sensor check procedure
issued by the vehicle manufacturer.)
Repair or replace the crankshaft position sensor
and/or the corresponding circuit.
3 Check each injector. (Refer to the injector check
procedure issued by the vehicle manufacturer.)
Repair or replace the injector and/or the corre-
sponding circuit.
4 Verify whether there is a start signal when
cranking the engine by checking the engine
ECU start signal terminal.
Repair the start signal circuit.
5 Check the engine ECU power supply. (Refer to
the engine ECU power supply circuit diagram
issued by the vehicle manufacturer.)
Repair the engine ECU power supply.
6 Check the supply pump and the supply pump
drive circuit. (Refer to the supply pump drive cir-
cuit diagram issued by the vehicle manufac-
turer.)
Repair or replace the supply pump and drive cir-
cuit.
