How to fix DKS Gate Opener when operator will not run and power LED is OFF?
    • L
      Lawrence RileyAug 14, 2025
If the DKS Gate Opener's power LED is off and the operator won't run, first ensure that AC power to the operator is turned on. If it still doesn't work, the transformer might be overheated; turn the power off, let the board cool down for a few minutes, and then try again. Also, check for low 115 VAC power and any low voltage shorts. Finally, check for 115 VAC at the high voltage terminal. If the voltage measures 0, inspect the incoming power wires or consider replacing the circuit board.

What to do if DKS 9100 opens but will not close?
    • J
      John GarciaAug 17, 2025
If your DKS Gate Opener opens but won't close, check the input LEDs; any that are ON indicate a problem with a keying device. Also, inspect the secondary safety devices; if any are activated, that indicates a problem with the safety device. Check the loop detectors as well, because if any are activated, this can hold the gate open, signaling a problem with the loop detector or ground loop. The operator might be in a 'soft shutdown' state, so try activating any keying device to see if the operator returns to normal operation. If you want the gate to close automatically, make sure SW 1, switch 2 is ON and set the timer open from 1 to 23 seconds.

Why DKS 9100 Gate Opener won't run when power LED is ON?
    • J
      James CooperAug 21, 2025
If the DKS Gate Opener's power LED is ON but the operator won't run, and if a photo-cell is being used, make sure its beam isn't blocked. Check that the chain isn't too tight, as this can cause the operator to stall. To check the motor, turn the power switch OFF and remove the circuit board. Place a jumper wire from the 117 VAC SWITCHED terminal to the BLUE wire on the 8 pin POWER connector on the control board. If the motor runs in both steps above, replace the control board. If the motor does not run, or runs in only one direction, the problem can be a bad motor, motor capacitor, motor resistors, wire connections from the control board to the motor or a bad control board.

Why does DKS 9100 Gate Opener start to close, then reverses to open?
    • D
      danasheppardAug 25, 2025
If your DKS Gate Opener starts to close and then reverses to open, check that the clutch is adjusted properly and is not slipping. Re-adjust the reverse sensitivity. Disconnect the gate from the gate operator and verify that it slides freely without any binding. Check the loop detector LEDs and input LEDs. Also, check the Magnetic Sensor LEDs on the circuit board.

What to do if DKS 9100 Gate Opener opens a short distance, then stops and reverses?
    • M
      Misty HillAug 27, 2025
If the DKS Gate Opener opens a short distance, then stops and reverses, check that the clutch is adjusted properly and is not slipping. Disconnect the gate from the gate operator and ensure it slides freely without any binding. Re-adjust the reverse sensitivity. Make sure the magnetic pickup transistors on the control board aren't obstructed by excess wires and are within 1/8 inch of the clear plastic protective cover.

Why does DKS 9100 Gate Opener close then re-opens?
    • D
      dsmithAug 31, 2025
If the DKS Gate Opener closes and then re-opens, check for any input or loop detector LEDs that are ON. Ensure that the operator is running in the proper direction. Check the SELF-TEST DIP switch setting.

What to do if DKS 9100 closes but will not open?
    • H
      Heather RoblesSep 3, 2025
If the DKS Gate Opener closes but won't open, the operator may be in a 'soft shutdown.' Check input LEDs. Ensure the operator is running in the proper direction. Check that each LED on the control board lights when the keying device connected to that terminal is activated. If an LED doesn't light, momentarily place a jumper wire from terminal 1 to the input terminal being checked.

How to reset DKS 9100 Gate Opener alarm when operator will not run?
    • E
      Erika PowellSep 7, 2025
If the alarm is sounding and the DKS Gate Opener won't run, the operator is in a 'hard shutdown' condition. You must push the reset button to return the operator to normal operation.

What does it mean when DKS 9100 Gate Opener alarm chirps every 5 seconds and operator will not run?
    • G
      gabriellewilliamsSep 10, 2025
If the alarm chirps once every 5 seconds and the DKS Gate Opener won't run, the operator has been in a 'hard shutdown' condition for more than 5 minutes. You must push the reset button to return the operator to normal operation.
