2° DOALL INSTRUCTION MANUAL
As the operator gains experience
on
the
machine he will find
it
possible
to
use
a
com-
bination of the
two
methods. That is: using
both the directional control and pressure
control
to
guide the work into the
saw.
In
relation
to
the Job Selector ratings the
pressure control readings would be
as
follows:

When cutting into
an
opening, reduce the
speed with the directional control valve
to
prevent damage
to
the
saw
and work being
cut.
When sawing with the contouring attach-
ment
or
hand feeding, reduce the feed while
a
curve
is being
cut.
Do
not
feed the work
into the
saw
so
rapidly that
it
causes
the
saw
to
twist
or
bow.
A
hole is —usually drilled when there is
a
sharp
corner
to
be cut, but this is
not
always
true.
A
corner
may be by-passed with
a
curve
and the remainder notched
out
later.

Figure 21
Turns
can
be
cut
without drilling by
notching
out
a
space with the
saw.
The blade
is turned in the notched space and then
a
cut
is made in the
next
direction. The diameter
Figure 22
of the drilled starting hole is determined by
the size of the
saw.
The widest possible
saw
is used for the
curve
to
be cut, but attempt-
ing
to
cut
too
small
a
radius with
too
wide
a
saw
will bind the
saw
and
cause
the lower
wheel tire
to
become grooved. See radii chart
'
for minimum radii possible with various
saw
widths.‘
The stock
can
be fed
as
fast
as
the
saw
will
cut
without putting undue pressure
on
the
saw
band and
saw
guides. See the DOALL
Band Tool Manual for
more
detailed infor-
mation
on
all sawing operations.
