1.6 Machine guards and safety
systems
Before starting the machine, remember that it is pro-
vided with the following set of “safety devices” for
your protection:
-
Adequate safety guards that provide protection against
accidental contact with the machine’s heated surfaces
- Spark-plug cover in nylon or rubber that provides pro-
tection against accidental contact with the machine’s
high-voltage electrical parts
- Rod-engine connection case equipped with vibration-
damping rubber
-
Vibration-damping provided on grip or handle-bar cross
- Amply-sized safety guards and protection barriers
- Safety belts in non-inammable material equipped with
quick-snap release buckles to immediately discard the
machine.
- Gas control knob lever with double safety.
Description of safety parts (Fig. 1):
A) Safety helmet
B) Head-phones
C) Chip-guard face-mask
D) Quick-release safety belt
E) Gloves
F) Safety guard
G) Safety shoes
H) Heavy-duty work suit
I) Vibration-damping support
L) Accelerator knob with “STOP” switch
M) Engine with overheating protection
1.5 Appropriate clothing and pro-
tection means
Carefully read the following instructions re-
garding the type of clothing and protection
means prior to using the machine.
- Wear close-tting work suits (avoid wearing loose
shirts or unfastened articles of clothing).
- Avoid wearing jewellery, ties, scarves or anything else
that might get caught up in the branches of shrubbery
or the moving parts of the machine.
- Tie up your hair so that its is always above shoulder
length.
- Wear closed work shoes or boots equipped with non-
slip soles to guarantee a perfect tread on the ground
(never use the machine barefoot or wearing open, low
shoes or slippers).
- Wear the helmet whenever the risk of falling objects
arises during pruning operations or the cutting of tall
shrubbery.
- The use of the face-mask and/or fog-proof goggles
is essential for the protection of the faces and eyes.
Wear them always!
- Protect your hearing by wearing head-phones or ear-
plugs.
- Always wear work gloves for protection against cut-
ting whenever handling the blades, knives, or cutting
parts.
