How do I troubleshoot no heating issue on my Dometic Control Unit?
    • J
      Joshua FloresSep 9, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit is not providing heat, and it is a reverse cycle unit, the reversing valve may be stuck. Try tapping the reversing valve lightly with a rubber mallet while the unit is in heat mode. If that does not correct the problem, call for service.

What to do if my Dometic Passport I/O Compact Control Unit displays "HPF"?
    • D
      David CooperAug 23, 2025
If the Dometic Control Unit is displaying "HPF" (High Refrigerant Pressure), it often indicates that the high-pressure switch is open. This can occur due to improper seawater flow in cooling mode. Check if the strainer or intake is plugged, the seacock is closed, or the seawater hose has kinks or collapses. Also, verify the pump operation and check the pump circuit breaker if applicable. Alternatively, in heating mode, it can be due to improper airflow. Remove any obstructions in the return air stream, clean the air filter and grille, and check for crushed or restricted ducting. If the problem persists, reprogram the Low Fan Speed Limit for maximum value by setting P-3 to 64, and set the reverse fan speeds during Heating Mode parameter P-13 to “rEF", or manually set fan speed to high.

What does "LPF" mean on my Dometic Control Unit and how do I fix it?
    • T
      Teresa RomeroAug 25, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit displays "LPF" (Low Refrigerant Pressure), it means the low-pressure switch is open. This can be due to low seawater and/or low return air temperatures. Try restarting the air conditioning unit, as the optional low-pressure switch has a ten-minute shutdown time delay that may be in effect. Alternatively, it could be due to a loss of refrigerant. Check the air conditioning unit for refrigerant oil leakage and call a service technician if needed.

How do I fix a Dometic Control Unit fan coil that is iced?
    • J
      Joseph FisherAug 27, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit's fan coil is iced, there are several possible causes. A thermostat set point that is too low could be the culprit, so try raising it. Improper airflow can also lead to icing; remove any obstructions in the return air stream, clean the return air filter and grille, and check for crushed or restricted ducting. Supply air short-cycling can also cause icing, so redirect the supply air to prevent it from blowing into the return air stream and seal any air leaks on the duct. High humidity levels may also contribute, so close hatches and doors. If all else fails, switch the air conditioning unit to heat until the ice melts or use a hair dryer to melt it.

Why does my Dometic Passport I/O Compact Control Unit system run continuously?
    • K
      Kristin ChenAug 28, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit is running continuously, it could be due to several reasons. Check if the set point temperature is improperly set, being too low for cooling or too high for heating, and adjust it accordingly. Open portholes or hatches can also cause this issue, so ensure they are closed. Verify that the seawater temperature is within the effective range for cooling (up to 90°F/32.2°C) or heating (as low as 40°F/4.4°C). Finally, an improper air sensor location could be the cause; consult the specific control troubleshooting section for guidance.

What does "ASF" mean on my Dometic Passport I/O Compact Control Unit?
    • L
      Lisa JohnsonAug 29, 2025
If the Dometic Control Unit displays "ASF" (Air Sensor Failure), it suggests a problem with the face plate air sensor, an alternate air sensor, or the display cable. Try unplugging the alternate air sensor if it's installed, or plugging one in if it's not. You can also try using another display cable. Additionally, inspect the jack/socket in the display head or on the circuit board for any bent or corroded pins. If damage is found, repair or replace the display or circuit board as needed.

What does "LAC" mean on my Dometic Control Unit and how can I fix it?
    • J
      Joseph PenaSep 18, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit displays “LAC” (Low AC Voltage), it means the supply voltage is too low or the voltage is improperly calibrated. Verify the power to the unit with a multimeter. Also, verify that P-22 matches the voltage reading to the unit with a multimeter, and adjust P-22 if necessary.

What does "PLF" mean on my Dometic Passport I/O Compact Control Unit?
    • J
      Joel RothSep 22, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit displays “PLF” (Low Pump Flow), the condenser coil may be too hot, the thermistor may be damaged or there is damaged jack/socket on circuit board. Verify that the unit is getting water flow, and that the condenser is not fouled.Unplug water sensor if installed. Try another if it is available. Visually check to see that pins inside socket are not bent or corroded. Repair or replace circuit board if needed.

Why does my Dometic Passport I/O Compact Control Unit fan run continuously when set to cycle with the compressor?
    • L
      Lisa GraySep 8, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit fan runs continuously even when it is set to cycle with the compressor, it indicates a failed triac on the circuit board. You should send the unit for repair or call a local service technician.

What does it mean when "FIL" is flashing on my Dometic Control Unit and how do I fix it?
    • D
      David WrightSep 5, 2025
If your Dometic Control Unit displays "FIL" flashing (Filter Reminder), it means that the filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. Clean or replace the filter, and then reset P-21 to "00".
